Kootenai County- Idaho State Police are further investigating a two- vehicle collision that took place on August 10th, 2025, at 2:45 p.m. The accident occurred south of Spirit Lake on Highway 41, just past mile 18.

The first of the vehicles, a silver Ford F250, was traveling northbound when the driver, a 21-year-old man from Priest River, veered across the center line and into the oncoming traffic. He collided head on with the second vehicle, a black Ford F350 pulling a trailer. The driver, a 62-year-old man from Florida, was traveling southbound when the front of his vehicle was struck, sending both vehicles to the side where they came to rest.

The 21-year-old male sustained severe injuries following this collision, and he passed away before emergency personnel arrived at the scene. Reports include that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. The second driver, the 62-year-ols man, also sustained considerable injuries, and following the accident, he was transported to a local hospital where he received treatment.
